About Us

Camerata Chamber Choir is an auditioned SATB chamber choir based in Takapuna, on Auckland's North Shore.  We are also known as The North Shore Camerata and Camerata Singers.  Our goal is to enrich the musical life of our members and the community by promoting and performing choral music.

The choir’s repertoire is broad and includes sacred and secular works, spirituals, madrigals, carols, motets and New Zealand compositions.  We have also performed some major works, including the Duruflé Requiem with organist John Wells, and Puccini's Messa di Gloria and Vivaldi's Gloria with organist Janet Gibbs.

In the last few years the choir has performed works by Vivaldi, Mendelssohn, Puccini, Byrd, Tallis, Gibbons, Bernstein, Palestrina, Mozart, Haydn, Faure, T.T.Noble, Kodaly, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Rutter, Britten, Morten Lauridsen, Eric Whitacre, Ola Gjeilo, Rautavaara, Andrew Carter, John Wells and David Hamilton.

In September 2015, Camerata Chamber Choir were one of 24 Auckland choirs who performed one night in Silo Theatre's production of The Events by Scottish playwright David Greig.

We rehearse weekly on Monday nights (7.30pm - 9.30pm) at St George's Church in Takapuna, and perform two or three major concerts every year, often at St George's Church.

Jenny Firth has been our conductor and Musical Director since 2010.  She brings a wealth of choral singing experience, notably 30 years in the Auckland Dorian Choir, and has conducted other choirs on the North Shore.
